Tips

General Tips

  • The hotspot is difficult to click on - ex. it moves too fast, it’s hard to follow, etc.

For video creators:
- Drag it slower as you’re tagging, move it as little as possible so that the viewer is able to follow it with their pointer and click on it before it disappears. Be aware of the speed of your tagged object as it moves through the video.
For video viewers:
- You can pause the video and then click on a tag, and you can always go back and rewatch to view tags that you missed the first time around!

  • Tagging takes me a long time, how can I do this faster?

Prepare in a folder on your computer all the text, photos, links and other information that you will be inserting into the hotspots of your video.
We recommend that when you tag, you first just name your tags.
Watch the video you are about to tag a few times before beginning work to identify the items and locations you want to tag, then watch the video and make sure the motion and tag placements are the way you want them to be, then go back to the draft and enter the rest of the information (we recommend this because at this point you cannot correct the motion of tagging but only the tag information).

  • Deleting a tag doesn’t always work.

We recommend after you delete a tag to reload the page.

  • Do you have any tips on how to tag a person?

We recommend that you do not place the hotspot right on the persons face, it will look better if its on the side of it, above or below it.

  • How can I make my tags flow better?

Pay attention to both audio and visual cues in the video to help make your tags more effective.

  • Why I cannot edit the motion of the tag I just created?

At this point you can edit the information you inserted, but not the whole action. Tagazu is working on improving this feature.

  • How can I time better my tags?

Watch the video you are about to tag a few times before beginning work to identify the items and locations you want to tag.

  • I wasted so much time entering information for the tags, but I dont like the riming and placement of my tags

Watch the video and make sure the motion and tag placements are the way you want them to be, then go back to the draft and enter the rest of the information (we recommend this because at this point you cannot correct the motion of tagging but only the tag information) We recommend that when you tag, you first just name your tags.

  • I just published my video but it was deleted by the admin team. Why?

This could be for several reasons:
- We delete videos that were published but contain no tags;
- We delete videos that are published, but they do not belong to the publisher (copyright issues);
- We delete videos that are found to violate our policies (please see our full list).

Tagging your videos

  • How to tag?

Here are the written instructions on how to tag (link), you can also watch our demo (link).

Legal / copyright / usage

General

  • Where can I find more information about copyright laws outside of the United States?

- The European Commission's website - copyright in European Union countries.
- The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) - a list of international intellectual property and copyright offices.
- The Electronic Frontier Foundation - database of copyright laws around the world.
The above sites are referred to for educational purposes only and are not endorsed by Tagazu.

  • What is public domain?

Once a copyrightable work loses its copyright protection, it falls into the “public domain” making it free for everyone to use. The length of a term of copyright protection varies depending on various factors.
Please note that the rules for public domain differ in other countries.
It is your responsibility to verify that a work is indeed in the public domain before you upload it to Tagazu. There is no official list of works in the public domain. However, below are some useful sources:
- Columbia University Libraries;
- Copyright Information Center at Cornell University.
Neither Tagazu, nor these universities, can 100% guarantee that all the works linked to are free from copyright protection.
The above sites are referred to for educational purposes only and are not endorsed by Tagazu.

  • What is a derivative work?

You need the copyright owner’s permission to create new works based on their original content.- consult Samira on this definition? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derivative_work#When_does_derivative-work_copyright_apply.3F

  • How do I get permission to use someone else’s content?

If you plan to use copyright-protected material, you’ll need permission to do so first. Tagazu does not grant you these rights. You must find and contact the parties who may grant you these rights. You may do this on your own, or contact a lawyer to assist you.
